ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant who loves numbers and has great attention to detail. 

The Assistant Accountant role is responsible for reporting and analysing manufacturing data for presentation to senior managers. This is a key role for The Binding Site and acts in partnership with finance, purchasing, manufacturing and planning teams to understand and maintain manufacturing and costing data.   

This role is a combination of Remote & Birmingham Edgbaston Office base (3 days per week office) 

The Role  

  • Working with manufacturing and finance colleagues to analyse and present key information including manufacturing variances, stock scrapping and other key performance indicators; 
  • Assisting with the creation, set up and cost analysis of new or amended products in the ERP system; 
  • A key part in the preparation stock valuation and provisioning at month and year end; 
  • The Binding Site are engaged on a project to improve manufacturing processes and data as part of implementing a new ERP system.  The job holder would assist in defining key aspects of the rules to follow when designing the system as well as working with the team to ensure all the data is gathered in accordance with these.  They would also assist in testing the new system. 
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of ERP costs following changes in raw material prices and investigation of anomalies. 
  • Updating standard costs in following changes in bleed prices and labour and overhead.  In addition, responsible for preparing updates to standard cost for the purchase price of raw materials and investigation of variances arising. 
  • Experience of working in manufacturing businesses (either as an auditor of stock or as an accountant in a manufacturing business) 

 

The Ideal Candidate 

  • 5 GCSE’s (A-C) 
  • Accountancy recognised qualification (AAT qualified or CIMA, ACCA or ACA part qualified) 
  • Excellent IT skills including Excel 
  • Ideally 3 years' experience within a manufacturing business with some exposure to stock valuation and provisioning 
  • Excellent communications & ability to work across numerous departments. 
  • Ability and background of working to deadlines and problem-solving abilities.

Hours: 40 hrs 3 days office & 2 days WFH)
