Service Engineer

We have now an exciting opportunity working in our busy Technical Support Department for a Service Engineer. You will provide engineering support in relation to the installation, service and repair of analysers supplied by The Binding Site. You will mainly be working from our Head Office in Birmingham in a predominately customer facing role, with travel at short notice. National and International travel may be required on occasions. The expectation is that you will be visiting customer sites 2-3 days a week. You will join a friendly and enthusiastic team, who values open communication and supporting once another. THE ROLE 

  • Analyser peripheral component setup for end user customers, subsidiaries and distributors
  •  Installation of analysers at customer sites (mainly UK, but some short or long-haul travel may be required)
  • Undertake analyser preventative maintenance services
  •  Provide technical assistance (via phone and/or written correspondence) to UK, European and occasionally worldwide customers in response to enquiries/reports from the field
  •  Repair and replacement of any faulty analyser components to restore functionality of the analyser within the agreed timescales and in order to offer first time fix solution
  •  Repair returned analysers or component parts and return to reconditioned stock
  •  Maintain stock control of spare parts.  
  • Complete administration tasks accurately and on time
  • Write, check, approve and update service documents as required
  • Validate and test new hardware on existing platforms and software versions
  • Validate other future TBS platforms
  •  Attend any engineering support tasks as required, including external training courses
  •  Working independently and making decisions based on previous knowledge and experience 

IDEAL CANDIDATE  

  • Electronics, Mechanical or Engineering Degree / HNC (Or equivalent) 
  • Full UK driving license.  
  • Flexible regarding travelling 
  • Experience in the medical industry desirable but not essential
  • Proven Service Support track record 
  • Good communication and customer service skills  
  • Good troubleshooting skills 
  • Time management and ability to work independently with minimum supervisor 
  • Good written and presentation skills 
  • Able to stand and lean over instruments to complete necessary tasks. Some lifting will be required during daily activities.

Location: Based within Birmingham location and travel across the UK & Ireland 

Hours: 40 hrs
